Frode Eikenes

Interim Parish Pastoral Council 2022-2023
During the pandemic the Parish Pastoral council was inactive. Now
the time has come for it to resume its work. Next summer, 2023 Ordinary Parish Pastoral Council elections will be held throughout the Diocese. Until then the present Council continues as an interim council. However I ask the parish to give them a mandate and a vote of confidence for their work. The council has 6 members. Four are elected by the Parishioners and two are appointed by the Parish Priest independent of the list.
You can vote for as many or as few you want. Tick off and place the ballot in the box.
Voting Sundays are 3 and 10 April after Mass. You can also vote by mail. Print out the ballot, complete and send it to St. Elisabeth menighet, Veståsen 24, 1362 Hosle. Send in a double envelope with the inner one marked only ‘valg’. The letter must be in the parish by 12 April at the latest.
A parish pastoral council is defined in Canon Law and in the ‘Statutes of Parish councils’ in The catholic diocese of Oslo. In Short, its main role is to aid the parish Priest in the running of the Parish.

God påske! Blessed Easter!
p. Frode
Dear everyone! A blessed and happy Easter to you all! Although it was sad not being able to gather for the Easter Liturgies I have celebrated all of them and prayed for all of you. The faith unites us and The Lord’s ressurrection brings joy whatever the situation. Take care! I hope to see you soon!

UTE ELLER INNE ? - EN OPPDATERING / OUTDOOR OR INDOOR ? - UPDATE

1. søndag i advent - Utendørsmesse - Outdoor Mass
Last Sunday just over 30 faithful attended the Outdoor Mass at Eikeli.
The weather forecasts are still good so we are repeating the success with an Outdoor Mass in Norwegian (with English) in the car park by St Elisabeth Church Sunday 29 November at 11.30 AM.
Please wear warm clothes and bring a chair if needed. No pre-booking is needed, but register upon arrival and keep at least one meter social distancing to those not member of your household. We celebrate the First Sunday of Advent.

LETTER OF HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS TO THE FAITHFUL FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2020

The month of May is approaching, a time when the People of God express with particular intensity their love and devotion for the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is traditional in this month to pray the Rosary at home within the family. The restrictions of the pandemic have made us come to appreciate all the more this “family” aspect, also from a spiritual point of view.
For this reason, I want to encourage everyone to rediscover the beauty of praying the Rosary at home in the month of May. This can be done either as a group or individually; you can decide according to your own situations, making the most of both opportunities. The key to doing this is always simplicity, and it is easy also on the internet to find good models of prayers to follow.
I am also providing two prayers to Our Lady that you can recite at the end of the Rosary, and that I myself will pray in the month of May, in spiritual union with all of you. I include them with this letter so that they are available to everyone.
Dear brothers and sisters, contemplating the face of Christ with the heart of Mary our Mother will make us even more united as a spiritual family and will help us overcome this time of trial. I keep all of you in my prayers, especially those suffering most greatly, and I ask you, please, to pray for me. I thank you, and with great affection I send you my blessing.

Den sårede hjorten - The wounded stag
On the wall behind the altar in St. Elisabeth’s we find a painting by Anne-Lise Knoff. It depicts a crucifix. Like all of Anne-Lise Knoff’s works this painting is rich in symbolism. The wounded stag symbolises Christ. The drops of blood looks like rowanberrries. Bitter is his passion. The crucifix we see is from the church of Tretten in Gudbrandsdalen. It shows a Jesus that is suffering for us. On Good Friday this image speaks to us strongly. This year it speaks to us with a surprising actuality. The crucifix was made in the 1300’s when the great plague ravaged our lands. Anne-Lise Knoff made this painting after a train disaster at Tretten in 1975. She knew several of those affected. There is something very real in this. We come to the cross with our lives and our world. As it is. And we beg for mercy.
We adore you Christ and we praise you.
Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.
